The only way to fix a faulty blu-ray laser is unfortunately to replace it entirely.

I might be able to help you.
I had this problem and figured out that i had to tip the top cover which he removes at ____ so that the 2 holes you can see by the little gray parts are open and not blocked by the white piece inside.
Hope you can understand that, it worked for me but unforationatly this wasn't the overall solution to my problem.

i dont care what anyone said my ps3 would play ps2 and reg dvd but no blue ray i used this video and cleand the eye with alcohol and a cotton swab presto plays blue ray fine great video make sure there is no game inside it will pop out and is hard to line everything back up but awsome video props to this dude and thank you this isnt 4 anyone under warenty still but if out of warenty dont spend 170 to get the eye clean do it your self anyone can do it other vids on how to take whole ps apart

im a moron i did this except i took it apart while a disc was in it then i took the disc out to clean the blue ray thingy.. now after i put everything back together i cant put a disc inside.. the thing is blocked and i dont know how to fix it.

I bough the new laser and changed it with the help this video! The only problem is that it worked for about 5 minutes but then it messed up again! So can I get some help from anyone on what to do!
The laser I bought works but my system still doesn't read any disc!
Should I just buy a new one?(by the way i cant call sony cuz the warrranty is void)

There is a disc cleaner but it doesn't fix faulty Blu-Ray drives. This method may fix a dead Blu-Ray. It will have more chances than a disc cleaner.

thats all well and good but i bet it only works for maybe 10% of the people having this problem/i'm a loyal ps fan and it breaks my heart that your system failed when it cost sooooooo much/its like my mom and dog died and my girlfriend left me in the same day/shameful sony
