You know how when people are high, they see things (UFO's, miracles, etc). The lyric is saying that you are saying that you have seen seven wonders and your bird is green. The green bird refers to marijuana. You're bird makes you high. A lot of people didn't notice that.

Interesting. huh, never thought of the lyric like that. I always thought Lennon was being sarcastic. Thats the best thing about Beatles songs is the ambiguity of the meaning so you make up your own interpretation and make it mean what you like. Can't think of anyone who has done that better.

Yes, Paul did say that. I recall reading it in Peter Brown's book 'The Love You Make'. Did he get Ringo to write it down? Actually the lyrics are more Dylan-like; the Beatles lyrics did become more so, and less teen girl romance after meeting Bob. And Bob's stuff was less folky and more pop after meeting the Beatles. Everyone win! 1966 was a bif year for the Beatles (Revolver) and Dylan (Blonde on Blonde). I used to love this cartoon when I was a kid. Looking for 'I Call Your Name'.
