This is such a sad song. It's so sad to know that people back then so blindly believed everything the goverment told them. Its sad that some still do. They're going to miss out on some wonderful experiences, meeting great people from all over the world.
The best part of this song was the end, when he went over and got to meet this guy "Victor" and see that people, regardless of their nationality, are not so different afterall.

No, jeszcze z chęci łatwego posiadania można wytaczać działa... ale to teżgłupota zakompleksionych tchórzy... albo małych piromanów he, he... Misje polecam... to o ludziach wolnych było... For me,
this is the best song of Billy Joel. It's so full of understanding for the life, someone have to live in another culture. Leningrad remembers me to World Wor II, and this is important in this song.
Most important: This song is about the live of the author himself, about a meeting with someone else. It's not fiction, it's like documentary. I did not see that before. It's so sad, that the people today still blindly believe what their governments say. Power still owns microphones.
