I am proud to say I still have a 1976 Sears Sharp color 19 " Tv that works and I am still happy with it. My vhs movies are great to. Those studios and tech companies are just reinventing the wheel but taking our choices away by colusion and price fixing false advertisment with the USA 's blessings . anything to make a buck. Tatung, Ritek, and CMC I recognize.
Tatung is a Taiwanese electronics company, but they don't have much presence in the U.S.
Ritek is a major manufacturer of recordable media and they make discs for lots of companies. Chances are that if you buy a pack of CD-Rs and they're made in Taiwan, they're made by Ritek, even name brands like Maxell, Philips, and TDK.
CMC Magnetics is, more or less, in the same boat as Ritek; major blank media manufacturer.
But, yeah, against Blu-Ray Disc, NO WAY!

And, in regards to HD-FVD, it may be successful in China and Taiwan but nowhere else; the motivation for this format was because the Chinese and Taiwanese companies don't want to pay for the licensing of Blu-Ray Disc and HD-DVD to make players and discs, so they devise a competing standard that may not see success outside of its home countries.

i'm a certified compu tech, i usually hear about everything coming out, especially always the good stuff. i've never heard of this so i'd be very suprised if this makes a splash over here in the US. Especially considering the high reputation that Blu-Ray has gained. As far as this new format being better than Blu-Ray... I HIGHLY DOUBT IT! Sony has made Blu-Ray top notch quality, bigger, better and smarter. Blu-Ray is made not only for movies but for PS3. It is the future of home entertainment.

Evenif FVD made it out of the local country, it'll have no chance. It's way too late, people already like Blu-ray. Blu-ray has presented itself in such a way that most companies could only dream of, creating a soft environment for sales and production quality. As for what companies support FVD, it doesn't really matter. Remember when HD-DVD came out, it had way more support than Blu-ray and look what happened. Support means nothing, it's all about the primary company and how it represents itself
