I'm settled in keeping it as a backup system instead of giving it away, and I will install Leopard on it. ( Super Drive DVD RW , 80GB HD, 1GB RAM, it's still a decent setup.
They achieved this size because it uses similer hardware from their laptops. This is an old 2005 model. They now make em with remotes, media software, and compatability for windows XP or vista. Though these aren't made for serious gaming because of integrated graphics, but they have a killer Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
The Current line of Mini with Intel processors, have Intel GMA 950 Integrated Graphics taking away 64 mbs of Ram. They say it's better than the ATI Radeon 9200 with 32mbs of it's own VRAM. Rumor has it, that apple is going to overhaul the Mac Mini and release a succesor by December or January. Surely thay might overhaul the graphics.
I'm thinking of buying a Mac Mini for a media center later.
Plus, it would be a PAIN to convert all my software over to run it, as most of my software and apps I did not purchase - and would require leopard code in order for them to work.
I will probably make the jump to leopard when 10.5.5 comes out.
Thanks,
So far, it's been said Mac OS 10.5 Leopard is the last operating system that will support PPC processor. And Leopard is already on it's mid-life cycle ( 10.5.5) .
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, so far has been said to only support Intel Macs. Thats unless u're getting a really good deal.
Only thing I upgraded myself was the Ram which was very easy. I didn't get a look @ how complicated removing the Optical drive was but this computer doesn't have many parts inside, it's just small & tight.
