i think the reason that hdd-dvd failed was not because of picture quality, but look at who's marketing there stuff...not very convincing

Look up the Forbes 2000 for 2007 and you will see that Microsoft is a lot more powerful then Sony. Also I don't know where do you get your numbers from the last time I checked Microsoft made 11.91bil in profits compared to 1.05bil of Sony. Look at what Microsoft sells compared to Sony. Microsoft sells mainly software which has a super high profit margin, Sony sells mainly electronics which don't have a high profit margin.

Are you kidding me? MS has been tremednously successful with Xbox and Xbox 360. And i havent even started on Xbox Live. Sony lost billions when the PS3 first came out, of course its starting to catch up. PS3 is a wonderful console, but XBox 360 is just as awesome.

Are YOU kidding me? The original Xbox was a failure, it only sold 1-2 million more than the Gamecube, and financially it was a complete disaster. The 360 seems to be following the same path, it has lost MS just as much money including RROD costs. And according to NPD numbers, the 360 is now dead last in sales even in America.

Sales dont mean anything. Xbox was a fantastic console and it had fantastic games such as Halo, Fable and KOTOR. Xbox 360 is just the same, its 08 line-up is even better then its 07 line-up, gears 2, ninja gaiden 2, fable 2, splintercell conviction, too human, alan wake, list goes on. The percent of failures has gone drastically lower with the new falcon chips, from 30% to 16%. there is even newer jasper chips in the making which will get rid of rrod permanently, I havent had a rrod once, ever.

Don't kid yourself, sales mean a lot, more sales means more potential AAA exclusives, probably why the original Xbox had very few decent games, Fable failed to live up to the hype and was a huge dissapointment, and Halo is mediocre to anyone who's played a decent FPS like Half-Life. And you've got to be kidding about the 360's 08 line up, 360 took the advantage of being a released a year early and had a good 07, but the future is looking bleak. As for the RROD issue, 16% is still unacceptable.

16% is still unacceptable i agree. Buts its a HUGE improvement. And Halo was not a mediocre game, it was an excellent game when it came out. I remember playing Halo CE all night long having endless fun with my friends. Of course halo 3 was way over-hyped, but was a fun game. And I have played half life, and i have had more fun with halo with its amazing MP. And how am i kidding about the 08 line-up, its an amazing line-up. I personally cant wait for splinter cell and gears 2.

HD-DVD had advanteges over blu ray in the beginning. But blu-ray started adding up to the point that it got it's 2.0 profile.And toshiba did not do anything innovating.the name Hd DVD is so long and still has (old) dvd in it wich makes the blu ray name more catchy en new.But hddvd would have been cheaper t0 create and distribute.
