Xbox 360 Playing Blu-Ray Rip

Uploaded by: kaj27
Video Description:
I took a blu ray rip, converted it from the mkv file into the wmvhd that the xbox can play/read. I copied it to my NAS and played it. Sorry the audio is a little low.

As long as you keep the bitrate for the video and the audio high enough and of course don't mess with the resolution little to no quality is lost.

The scene group that ripped the movie to mkv did not crop any of the picture, what is 'missing' is just the black bars. Pop in the DVD (or BD on another device) and it will fill in the same amount of space.

And here's a useful tip for the 360:
Since MS wanted it to be able to support mac iPods which are formatted in HFS+, they put what is essentially an HFS+ driver on the XBL marketplace. It's called something like Optional iPod Support (this came out before the Zune altogether). If you download that, the 360 will be able to read any USB device formatted in HFS+, be it an iPod, a USB key, or a USB HDD. This is great because HFS+ has no 4GB file limit. to read/wrtie HFS+ on windows, use MacDrive 7.

It only reads fat 32? what does that hinder you on? can you still rip a whole blu ray in 1080p and play it on the xbox?

As someone else stated it can read HFS+ which supports over the 4Gb limit. I use FAT32 because that's all my NAS supports anyway. All of my movies are 720p I usually encode them to get about 3.99Gb. Trying to keep as much quality as possible.
