I hate to agree but ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
I hate to agree but if that is true (it is) the war will be over. What the hell does that mean...it means HDDVD owners will be screwed in their asses. And they say it is all for the consumer...lol yeah right. I am pissed...WB is the biggest movie making company out there. How will this turn out? Will they merge? What? How does this help the consumer? It freaking doesn't...it's the money game.
It is over...
Why are you loosers ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
Why are you loosers so obsessed with your silly little products. It isn't like you made the damn thing...get a life. I could give a shit less...I just want my movies. And I will be returning my HDDVD player for a Blueray now that I know this. Wich is what I wanted in the damn first place.........damnit.

I think they already crap them self. Kinda what I expected from HD-DVD fan boys gunna say Get a LIFE not I need one any better then what I have now. This war is the outcome of a vote, Movies is what I make and This is LIFE to me.

wtf..."see what the other film studios will do" what kind of statement is that. HD-DVD only has two studios that are supporting it, and the rest are on blu-ray's side.

It's just a little ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
It's just a little retarded I mean give it a rest, you love your PS3 ok great that doesn't make you a commercial for Sony. I have a PS3 and I love it but I am not spending every breath to go around and shout out how great it is and how other products suck when they are still good just not my favorite.
I believe that it ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
I believe that it is the long term benefit of the consumer, seriously.
I also believe that if the 360 had a HD DVD drive when it launched; Blu-ray would be where HD DVD is at now. I would be buying HD DVD's if the 360 had a HD DVD drive.
I also want to ask, ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
I also want to ask, why don't you think it will benefit the consumer? Do you believe that having two formats would benefit us? Having movie studios exclusive to either side benefits the consumer? How?
I just want one format to win; now that it is clear that Blu-ray in the lead I just want them to win so Paramount and Universal will endorse Blu-ray so I can buy their films in high-def too.
No I am saying to ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
No I am saying to begin with yes one format would have been the best idea, but HDDVD has been out longer than blueray and many people are devoted to that product and now Blueray will take over and that isn't good for HDDVD owners. So yes it is bad for the consumer at the moment, it is screwing them into having an old product that is still good but just not what the companies wanted. There isn't a big difference between HDDVD and Blueray but one is seen as superior for some reason.
This is not for the ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
This is not for the betterment of mankind...lol it is because at the moment Blueray has a lead in the HD format market and Sony is pressuring the companies to be exclusive with them so they can make the big dollar. How could anyone say this is for the best when hundreds of people will have spent countless dollars on something that has no significance anymore. Watsed money for no reason....that doesn't sound to good to me.
Microsoft really ... ( 10 months ago by chrissup19)
Microsoft really dropped the ball on that one. Long term yes we should all just have one format. But people have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a product that in a few years will be nonexistent. Does that sound like a slap in the face or benefit? The benefit for the consumer would be not to have greedy bastards who don't care about them but act like they do. Is Sony going to replace every ones HDDVD drives and discs for Blueray? I think not...lol
It has happend many ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
It has happend many times before. Betamax adopters, laserdisk adopters, in the game industry with the Sega Dreamcast etc. The fact is, people should have known what they were getting into when they invested into HD DVD. They should have known there was competition in the market and that there was a possibility their format would become obsolete. I did when I invested in Blu-ray and I guess it was just a coincidence that it is leading.
At the end of the ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
At the end of the day, it is business, both can claim to be the best for the consumer but it really isn't like that. Warner Bros moved based on business and strategic plans. They endorsed it because of features including superior copyright prtoection and better sales, probably not for the extra disk space.
HD DVD may be putting up a lot of resistance in North America but in other territories like Europe and Japan, Blu-ray is dominating.

Ah...so basicly. Blueray "hey you made a mistake, oh well if ya don't like it go fuck yourself ha ha we win!". You just said what I have been explaining this whole time ya jack ass. Btamax, laserdisc, dremcast is no comparison when it comes to this. Similar? Yes...but not the same thing.

I wonder what you would be saying if this went the other way around? You would probably be posting "Blu-ray is dead" everywhere.
Formats have died out before, are dying out now and will die out in the future.
When I bought a Sega Dreamcast I expected it to be the console that would sit under my tv for years to come with all the best games for it. That didn't happen and the Playstation 2 killed it.....
I got over it ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
I got over it though and bought a ps2 eventually.
Not everybody can be a winner here; competition isn't always good for the consumer; just get over it.
Sony wanted one ... ( 10 months ago by Colsworl)
Sony wanted one format to begin with. Early on there was talks between Toshiba and Sony to unify the two formats.
There was one argument though. Toshiba wanted to use Microsoft's iHD software while Sony wanted to use BD-JAVA. (I'm not 100% sure of the details though)
So there were talks to unify the two but they broke down over some minor issues which was a shame.
