Musicians are artists, they have the freedom to be creative. In my opinion, the whole idea of having some musical morals and being "self respecting" as you described and not using polyrythms in this case, is completely trite and just plain bullshit. I say do whatever the fuck you want, you're a musician, therefore an ARTIST. There's a term for those 'talented musicians' you describe; They're called CRITICS-Critics suck ass, they'll tell you what is 'bad,' which in the end limits your creativity.
