I think, that there was no line to begin, which made Grace's (especially her) reaction more genuine, as in 'what can I say?'. It turned out to be a perfect "silent" ad-lib.

Fantastic! I love when they leave bloopers in TV shows - it adds an odd sense of realism. In the real world, that sort of thing is more likely to happen than her mother dancing out and away without a problem.

I remember everytime I saw that episode I thought "how could they make that happen?" I thought they must have shot it loads of times to get it right......makes more sense that it was a blooper they kept in the episode.

Mistakes ('mis-take'), such as this one, are considered 'live bloopers', because they happen in the front of a live audience, and are unscripted or unforseen by anyone to happen during a filming.
[Often times small 'glitches' are caught and addressed during a rehearsal of a run-through, and avoided during the actual taping - not this time.]

this WAS a blooper...they kept it in the show. The producers and editors decided to keep it because it was just so funny. It's in Will and Grace's official book Fabulously Uncensored.
