Rip DVDs Directly From VLC Player

If you have trouble with mp4/divx try mpeg /mp1v
It's illegal for you to rip a DVD that has CSS (a type of DRM). It's even worse (in terms of punishment) if you redistribute copyright material. See your country's / states copyright laws and all documentation regarding the media you want to copy if you want to be safe. Don't copy stuff you don't own or you rented.
Note that if you have vlc player set so it loops, it will infinitely rip the same dvd to the same file. You can stop it from looping by clicking one of the buttons in the playlist.
If you want to watch the dvd after it's finished ripping on vlc player make sure you uncheck the stream / save box or it'll overwrite the rip and start ripping again.

OK since you've started reading this its too late to stop. in 2001 a 15 year old girl was killed in a clearing in scotland. nobody knows who or what killed her but there is scratch marks all over her body and she looks horrific. she is said to roam around the world and can go 2 places at once. if you dont post this comment on 5 other videos or websites in ten minutes she will suddenly attack you and kill you in some gruesome way. this is scary coz it happened to my friend. please.

I'm using vlc player 0.9.6, it has a slightly different interface but essentially the same.
I having a problem though. VLC crashes every time I try to rip films! I have tried a number of different codec settings and file types but the same thing happens every time!
Dose jimmyrcom or anyone else have this problem? or even better a solution???

Try starting out by opening the disc, then playing it with the menus, then start playing the movie, thus unlocking the disc.. Then start with jimmyrcom's tutorial
