umm, soul does not mean that you wave your head around and shake your guitar. Soul is in the tone and feel of the music. "No Boundaries" has plenty of soul.

Beck started in the blues,R&B and psychedelic band The Yardbirds! Then The Jeff Beck Group who indeed played Cream stuff, blues-rock, and also Beck Bogert and Appice! His later work incorporated more complex stuff, jazz fusion works and also blues-rock! Mrbungleface is right you have much to learn about Beck!!!!

Anyone else think it sounds like cream's "crossroads" at near the end? I wouldn't be surprised after the time Beck spend working with Clapton and the way their styles seem to mesh.

With the exception (and all due respect to Clapton) that Clapton is nowhere near the guitarist that Beck is. I love Cream but Jeff Beck has continued to get better with age while Clapton is playing the same old thing.

I agree. Clapton is like a fine wine getting better with age but staying relatively the same. Beck is more like blotter acid, where you never know what you're going to bet but you know it's going to be intense. And in the end, your mind will never be the same. Beck is amazing.

How can you say John Mayer sucks? Have you seen the shit he's been making recently? He's one of the best singer/songwriters/gutiarists of our generation whether you like it or not. And to insult his guitar playing ability is just misinformed.

Jeff Beck still has the best shag hairdo in the business. No doubt that the "rock" aura & mystique of Christopher Guest's "Nigel Tufnel" character "Spinal Tap" was based largely on Jeff Beck.

You don't drink acid. Blotter acid is LSD. The analogy is dead-on as far as I'm concerned. Clapton is a great blues player. Beck is a great guitarist. It's just my opinion. There's no need to be rude, unless that's all you've got.
Wow. Your first ...( 15 hours ago by thelowmax)
Wow. Your first Jeff Beck!?!?! If you dug this, you should check out as much as you can. The album Wired is AMAZING. Real early stuff like The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart is way ahead of it's time, yet so perfectly timely. Ronnie Wood plays bass and is definitely in my top 10 list of bad mofo bass players. As one of the Yardbirds (other members Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton) Beck is sublime. Now I'm gonna look up Rod Stewart's video Infatuation and jam along. Did I mention Beck is awesome?
