My hopes for new functions and improvements for the upcoming firmware... coming soon to a PS3 near you!
Edit- (19/12/07) Firmware 2.1 brings Divx and WMV abilities. Time to upgrade that PS3 hard-drive!
Edit- (08/11/07) Now, 2.0 has been released, but much that I hoped for is yet to arrive, though it is said on the grapevine that arrive it will, when the time is right. So here's for 2.1, 2.2, etc, etc, etc! (hence the change in title).

I saw that and very happy I am too, I may well be upgrading that hard-drive for it! Luckily, the PS3 has great upscaling, so even my older stuff will be watchable, not to mention the high-def material around these days.

This is a good question- with 2.0 my subtitles weren't working. I haven't really tried it out, but apparently the latest version of firmware 2.0 (currently 2.20) improves on this. Seeing as my 'Divx Ultra' certified DVD player can't handle a lot of them, I think sony will be pretty specific.

Yeap, I upgraded to 2.20 and tried a lot of subs. The traditional .srt doesn´t work. I also search the forums, but no results.

the only reason why I update my PS3 is for the games because some games will not work on lower version of firmware.. do you guys think firware 2.35 is enough for future PS3 games? so that I wont need to update again because one mistake while updating is enough to destroy the PS3

There will probably always be new firmware updates, not so much for the games themselves, but for adding new features or deterring hackers. The games will just need them to work, though sometimes it will help them, too.
You don't need to worry, the update process is very secure, as it checks and double-checks the data (which is why it takes so bloomin' long!) The only danger would be a sudden power-cut and perhaps even then it has some kind of procedure, like reverting to the older firmware.

1st thing, wouldn't we all like 2 have MSN but what are the chances of Microsoft giving the rights 2 SONY so that they can use it lol.
2nd, i think that there should be a link so that u can send messages 2 ur friends whilst ur in a game, like in resistance u can do that on the online menu, but when u pause u should be given the option 2 send messages anyway.
Finally, i think updates take their fair share of time but what were SONY thinking of when they added the information bar lol.
